Hindustan Zinc Limited (BSE: 500188; NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top five silver producers globally, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CMR Green Technologies Ltd, India’s largest non-ferrous metal recycling company and one of the leading recyclers globally. The agreement marks another significant milestone in the development of Zinc Park in Rajasthan, further strengthening its position as India’s first integrated ecosystem dedicated to zinc-based industrial applications.
Under the agreement, CMR Green Technologies will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility within Zinc Park to produce high-quality zinc alloys with significantly lower emissions. These alloys serve as critical materials for a wide range of industries, including automotive, infrastructure, die-casting, electronics, and consumer goods manufacturing. The project will promote downstream value addition of zinc, encourage sustainable metal processing practices, and support India’s push toward self-reliance in strategic industrial materials.
The partnership represents the second major collaboration announced for Zinc Park, following Hindustan Zinc’s earlier MoU with Tripura Group. The initiative reflects the company’s vision of creating a comprehensive industrial cluster dedicated to advanced zinc applications and innovation.
Zinc Park was first announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024. The project was further highlighted by Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal as a transformative initiative aimed at building a robust downstream metals ecosystem in India. Developed jointly by Hindustan Zinc and the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), the park is designed as a fully integrated manufacturing hub powered largely by renewable energy sources.
Strategically located near Hindustan Zinc’s major operations at Chanderiya, Dariba, and Debari, Zinc Park benefits from strong logistics connectivity and a reliable supply of raw materials. This proximity will enable participating companies to operate efficiently while maintaining consistent access to primary zinc resources.
The development of Zinc Park coincides with Rajasthan Diwas celebrations this month, highlighting the state’s continued commitment to industrial expansion, investment attraction, and technological innovation. The park is envisioned to host both micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and large industrial players engaged in galvanizing, die-casting, zinc oxide production, alloy manufacturing, and other zinc-based applications.
To support industry growth, Zinc Park will provide a range of structural advantages including assured raw material linkages, long-term supply agreements, competitive commercial incentives, and well-defined performance frameworks. These measures are expected to accelerate value creation, generate employment opportunities, and encourage advanced manufacturing capabilities within the state.
Zinc alloys are increasingly recognized as critical materials in modern manufacturing due to their durability, corrosion resistance, strength, and recyclability. They are widely used in die-casting components for automobiles, electronics, appliances, hardware fittings, and infrastructure applications. The upcoming facility at Zinc Park will help meet rising domestic and international demand for these materials while promoting circular economy principles through efficient metal recovery and reuse.
Commenting on the development, Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said:
“Zinc Park represents a strategic vision to drive industrial growth, local manufacturing, and sustainability through zinc-based applications. We are pleased to welcome CMR Green Technologies as a partner in this journey. Their expertise in non-ferrous metal recycling and alloy production will play a vital role in building a future-ready and innovation-driven zinc ecosystem.”
CMR Green Technologies maintains strong partnerships with several leading automotive manufacturers and industrial customers worldwide. The company operates advanced recycling facilities and is guided by a sustainability-focused operating model. Its recycled metal production processes can reduce emissions by up to 95 percent compared to primary metal production, making it an important contributor to circular metal economies.
Through this collaboration, Hindustan Zinc continues to accelerate the development of India’s first downstream zinc industrial cluster. The initiative is expected to drive innovation, strengthen domestic value addition, promote sustainable manufacturing practices, and contribute significantly to Rajasthan’s economic growth. As India moves toward becoming a global hub for advanced manufacturing and sustainable metals, Zinc Park is positioned to play a key role in supporting the country’s long-term industrial ambitions.
