On Global Energy Independence Day, Hindustan Zinc, a part of Vedanta Group, announced it has started getting power from Serentica Renewables. The power will be used for Hindustan Zinc’s business units in Rajasthan.
Hindustan Zinc has a deal with Serentica to get 450 MW of power around the clock. Right now, Hindustan Zinc has 40.70 MW of solar power and uses regular fuel for the rest. The new power from Serentica will increase the amount of renewable energy Hindustan Zinc uses.
This move is part of Hindustan Zinc’s plan to be more sustainable and use cleaner energy. The company aims to cut about 0.45 million tonnes of CO2 emissions each year with this project. Hindustan Zinc’s CEO, Arun Misra, said this project will help reduce their use of conventional fuels and lower their environmental impact. It will also help in making their operations more eco-friendly.
Akshay Hiranandani, CEO of Serentica Renewables, said the quick start of Phase 1 in Bikaner shows Serentica’s dedication to clean energy in India.
Hindustan Zinc is one of the leading zinc producers in the world. It operates as part of the Vedanta Group and plays a crucial role in the mining and production of zinc. The company also produces significant amounts of silver.
Hindustan Zinc is committed to sustainability and clean energy, as seen in its recent initiatives to integrate renewable energy into its operations. The company aims to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future by using more solar power and reducing its reliance on conventional fuels.
