Hinduja Foundation has announced the launch of its 2026 scholarship programme for Indian-origin students pursuing advanced healthcare innovation studies at King’s College London. The initiative forms part of the Hinduja King’s Health Partners’ Academy, established through a major philanthropic contribution made by Hinduja Foundation UK in 2024.
The partnership has been designed to strengthen healthcare research, medical technology innovation and academic collaboration between India and the United Kingdom. The programme supports four-year PhD studentships in healthcare technologies at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, along with scholarships for the MSc in MedTech Innovation & Entrepreneurship programme.
The initiative is aimed at enabling Indian students to access world-class education, innovation-led healthcare training and real-world clinical exposure while contributing to the future of healthcare systems in India and globally. In addition to academic scholarships, the collaboration has also facilitated nursing training programmes, observerships and online leadership courses through Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for professionals at P.D. Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.
The first group of scholars under the programme commenced studies at King’s College London in October 2025, including three PhD and two MSc students. Another PhD scholar joined the programme in February 2026.
For the 2026–2027 academic year beginning in October, applications remain open for four PhD scholarships and five MSc scholarships. The MSc scholarships available for Indian citizens include one scholarship covering 80% of tuition fees and four scholarships covering 50% of tuition costs.
The programme is expected to strengthen India’s healthcare innovation ecosystem by equipping scholars with expertise in biomedical engineering, healthcare entrepreneurship and emerging medical technologies. Students selected under the initiative will gain exposure to interdisciplinary research, clinical innovation and healthcare system transformation.
Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Foundation, said the initiative reflects the foundation’s philosophy of combining local impact with global collaboration. He noted that investment in future-ready healthcare talent is essential for building resilient healthcare systems aligned with India’s long-term development goals and the vision of Viksit Bharat. He added that the collaboration aims to strengthen India’s capabilities in healthcare research, innovation and medical technology while expanding the global relevance of Indian scientific and academic contributions.
