Hi-Tech Pipes Limited, one of India’s leading manufacturers of steel tubes, hollow sections, and value-added steel products, has commenced commercial production at its greenfield manufacturing facility in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. The Kathua plant has an installed capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum and is equipped to manufacture ERW steel pipes, coated pipes, and other value-added steel products.
The facility features modern production lines, automation, and quality control systems to meet customer requirements and industry standards. With the commissioning of this unit, Hi-Tech Pipes is nearing a total installed capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum, further strengthening its position as one of the fastest-growing steel tube and pipe manufacturers in India.
Located strategically in Jammu, the Kathua facility offers logistical advantages, enabling efficient supply to markets across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The plant is well positioned to serve demand from infrastructure development, construction, water distribution, fabrication, industrial projects, and engineering applications.
The new plant supports the company’s strategy to increase the share of value-added products in its overall sales mix. A greater focus on coated and specialized steel products is expected to improve realizations and EBITDA per tonne over the medium to long term.
The facility is expected to begin contributing meaningfully to volumes and profitability from the middle of Q4 FY26. The Jammu expansion reflects Hi-Tech Pipes’ long-term plan to build a scalable and efficient manufacturing base while maintaining strong standards in quality, operations, and sustainability.
Commenting on the development, Ajay Kumar Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of Hi-Tech Pipes Limited, said that the start of commercial production at the Kathua facility in Jammu represents an important step in the company’s growth plans. He noted that the strategically located greenfield plant strengthens Hi-Tech Pipes’ presence in northern India and brings the company close to achieving its target of 1 million tonnes of installed manufacturing capacity.
Mr Bansal added that the Kathua unit is focused on value-added and coated steel products, in line with the company’s long-term strategy to improve margins and broaden its product range. He emphasized that this expansion supports infrastructure development in emerging and underserved regions, while reaffirming the company’s commitment to operational discipline, technology-led manufacturing, sustainable growth, and long-term value creation for all stakeholders.
