Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), in partnership with Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and implementation partner Sangam Pratishthan, has launched the ‘Used PET Bottle-Free Mysuru Dasara 2026’ campaign under its GreenSweep initiative. The programme aims to encourage the collection and recycling of used PET bottles during the annual Mysuru Dasara celebrations.
The initiative was inaugurated in the presence of BN Veena, KAS Additional Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation. Volunteers, local artists, Safai Sathis, community members and visitors are participating in the campaign to promote responsible waste collection at key festival locations.
Mysuru Dasara, Karnataka’s celebrated Nada Habba, attracts large numbers of residents, pilgrims and tourists every year. With visitor numbers rising during the festival, the collection and proper handling of used PET bottles become important to keep public spaces clean and ensure recyclable material reaches authorised recycling facilities.
This is the third year that GreenSweep has supported used PET bottle collection during Mysuru Dasara. Under the 2026 campaign, two collection centres have been established at Chamundi Hills and the Aahara Mela Grounds. More than 30 volunteers and Safai Sathis have been deployed at these locations to help visitors deposit used bottles and support segregation activities.
The collected bottles will be sent through authorised recycling channels for recovery and recycling. The campaign also uses Beedi Nataka, a traditional Karnataka street theatre format, to spread awareness. Local artists are performing interactive shows in Kannada at festival venues, encouraging visitors to take part in the collection drive.
Smt Veena, Additional Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation, said managing public spaces during a festival of this scale requires cooperation from all stakeholders. She welcomed the participation of HCCB, Sangam Pratishthan, volunteers and Safai Sathis in encouraging visitors to use the designated collection points.
Himanshu Sekhar Priyadarshi, Chief Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability Officer at HCCB, said the company aims to make used PET bottle collection easy and accessible through collection centres, volunteers and street theatre. He added that the campaign seeks to improve public participation in recycling and responsible packaging waste management. Komal Ghag Nadar, Founder of Sangam Pratishthan, said Mysuru Dasara provides an opportunity to reach a large audience with messages on responsible waste collection. She thanked Mysuru City Corporation and HCCB for supporting the initiative.
The campaign is part of HCCB’s wider community engagement in Karnataka. The company is headquartered in Bengaluru and operates two manufacturing facilities in the state. Through Project SHINE, its community partnership programme, HCCB also supports activities related to health and hygiene, waste management, access to safe drinking water and skill development for women and young people.
