GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, an Essar initiative and India’s first logistics company operating exclusively with LNG and electric-powered heavy-duty trucks, has announced a $275 million equity investment to scale up its clean transportation efforts. The funding round includes a $20 million contribution from entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath and marks a major step toward decarbonising India’s high-emission road freight sector.

The investment will support the deployment of over 10,000 low-emission trucks and the creation of a nationwide support network featuring 100 LNG refuelling stations, electric vehicle charging points, and battery swapping infrastructure. GreenLine aims to cut one million tonnes of carbon emissions annually through this large-scale initiative, contributing meaningfully to India’s climate action goals.

India’s logistics industry, which operates more than 4 million trucks, is one of the country’s largest contributors to carbon emissions. GreenLine’s strategy aligns with national targets to reduce greenhouse gases by replacing diesel-powered fleets with vehicles running on cleaner alternatives. By offering logistics services at the same operating cost as traditional diesel trucks, GreenLine ensures that businesses can transition to sustainable freight solutions without incurring additional expenses.

GreenLine’s current fleet of over 650 LNG-powered trucks has already clocked 38 million kilometers, resulting in a reduction of approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO₂. These vehicles emit up to 30% less carbon dioxide than conventional diesel trucks and are already in service for prominent clients across industries including FMCG, metals, cement, chemicals, and oil & gas.

Anshuman Ruia, Director at Essar, commented: “This marks a pivotal moment in India’s transport sector. We see immense potential not only in building a robust green logistics ecosystem but also in integrating clean energy sources in the future to support our electric truck fleet. This approach will drive down emissions, reduce reliance on imported energy, and pave the way for a cleaner, more energy-secure India.”

Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., added: “From the beginning, our mission has been to redefine heavy transportation in India. This funding brings us closer to realizing our long-term vision. We urge corporate India to take an active role in supporting this transition and help shape a more sustainable logistics framework for the country.”

Nikhil Kamath, investor and entrepreneur, stated: “The logistics sector is undergoing a necessary transformation—towards speed, efficiency, and sustainability. Supporting GreenLine is an investment in the future of freight, where cleaner alternatives are not optional, but essential. It’s time for more businesses to step up and be part of the change.”

A part of the Essar Group, GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd is India’s largest operator of LNG and electric-powered heavy commercial vehicles. The company uses LNG trucks for long-haul operations and EVs for short-distance freight. Through its subsidiary, Ultra Gas and Energy Ltd., GreenLine is also building a nationwide network of LNG fuelling infrastructure. The company is committed to transforming India’s logistics sector with modern, sustainable solutions that support environmental and economic progress.
