Gensol Engineering announced on Wednesday that it has secured an additional 250 MW/500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL).
This new award brings its total BESS order book to Rs 3,100 crore. Earlier, GUVNL had awarded Gensol a similar capacity project. The total project will now deliver 500 MW/1,000 MWh of battery energy, providing power backup for more than an hour. Over a 12-year period, the project is expected to generate Rs 2,685 crore in revenue.
It will supply electricity to Gujarat’s Discoms during peak and off-peak hours, extending renewable energy availability beyond solar hours and enhancing grid resilience. The energy will be delivered through two charge/discharge cycles per day once the project is commissioned at two Gujarat Energy Transmission Corp. substations.
Gensol Engineering is a key player in renewable energy, specializing in solar power and electric mobility solutions.
