GEBHARDT Intralogistics North America, a leading provider of automation and material handling technologies, has officially broken ground on its manufacturing expansion in Streetsboro, Ohio. The move marks a major step in strengthening its North American operations by bringing more production capabilities to the United States. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Fritz Gebhardt, Global CEO, and Juergen Conrad, North American CEO, along with city officials and community leaders. The expansion adds 39,732 sq. ft. of new space, increasing the total facility size to 110,013 sq. ft.
This investment enhances GEBHARDT’s ability to manufacture key automation technologies locally, reducing reliance on imports from its global headquarters in Sinsheim, Germany. The expanded facility will enable the company to better serve its U.S. and Canadian customers with faster delivery timelines, reduced shipping costs, and improved service support. It also aligns with the broader trend of bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. to strengthen domestic supply chains and promote technological growth in the automation industry.
“Our goal is to ensure customers receive the highest quality automation solutions with shorter lead times and localized service,” said Juergen Conrad, CEO of GEBHARDT Intralogistics North America. “Reducing freight and tariff expenses is especially important in large-scale automation projects. With this expansion, we can work more closely with manufacturers investing in production and distribution infrastructure right here in the U.S.”
Mayor Glenn Broska of Streetsboro commended the expansion, highlighting the city’s continued partnership with the company. “GEBHARDT has been an outstanding addition to our business community, growing from 15 to 49 employees in a short time,” he said. “This new facility will create more high-quality jobs and strengthen our local economy. We’re proud to support their growth and continued investment in Streetsboro.” With over 70 years of expertise in intralogistics, GEBHARDT now employs over 1,000 professionals across 16 locations globally, offering innovative, modular solutions for warehouse automation, conveyor systems, and integrated software technologies.
