Growth Catalyst Group of Companies (GCG), a global provider of supply chain technology and logistics solutions, has announced the appointment of Maia Benson as Chief Commercial Officer. Ms Benson brings more than two decades of experience in ecommerce, SaaS and logistics and will lead the company’s global commercial strategy as GCG accelerates its next phase of growth.
Widely recognised for her leadership in ecommerce logistics, Ms Benson was among Shopify’s earliest employees in the United States and played a key role in building the company’s shipping and fulfillment operations into a multi-billion-dollar business. During her tenure, she led the development of the Shopify Fulfillment Network and helped drive strategic investments and acquisitions, including Six River Systems and GlobalE.
Before joining GCG, Ms Benson served as Chief Business Officer at FlavorCloud, where she focused on helping small and mid-sized brands expand internationally through technology-driven logistics and compliance solutions. Earlier in her career, she also led SendPro, Pitney Bowes’ first SaaS-based multicarrier shipping platform, where she developed expertise in ecommerce logistics and operational transformation.
In her new role, Ms Benson will oversee go-to-market strategy and commercial growth initiatives across GCG’s portfolio, which includes supply chain advisory services, omnichannel fulfillment, command centre operations and technology platforms supporting both business-to-business and direct-to-consumer brands.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Benson said the company’s entrepreneurial leadership and integrated approach to supply chain management were key reasons behind her decision to join GCG. She highlighted the company’s ability to combine strategic advisory capabilities with on-ground operational execution through its technology-enabled North American warehouse network.
Ms Benson also pointed to the rapid transformation currently reshaping the global supply chain industry, including geopolitical shifts, changing trade patterns, artificial intelligence adoption and rising operational costs. She noted that businesses capable of rapidly redesigning and optimising supply chains would be better positioned to navigate market volatility.
On the growing role of artificial intelligence in logistics, Ms Benson said AI-driven workflow automation and predictive applications are increasingly becoming essential across customer support, invoice validation and exception management processes. She added that companies investing early in AI-led operational capabilities are gaining a significant competitive advantage.
Manish Kapoor, Founder and CEO of GCG, described Benson as a proven operator and technology leader with extensive expertise in building category-defining logistics businesses. He said her appointment would strengthen GCG’s ability to deliver greater value to clients as the company expands its technology-led supply chain offerings.
Founded by former Amazon and FedEx executive Manish Kapoor, GCG provides technology-powered supply chain, fulfillment and logistics solutions for global brands. The company combines operational consulting with AI-enabled analytics and advanced tracking capabilities to help businesses improve efficiency, scalability and customer experience across complex supply networks.
