GameChange Solar has announced a strategic partnership with First Solar to support the deployment of domestically manufactured thin-film solar modules across utility-scale projects in India. The collaboration builds on successful execution of two large solar projects where First Solar modules were integrated with GameChangeSolar’s Genius Tracker™ systems.

These operational projects have demonstrated high system reliability, with recorded uptime of approximately 99.8%, validating strong compatibility between First Solar modules and GameChangeSolar’s tracking technology. The performance results reinforce the technical alignment between the two systems in real-world operating conditions.

The partnership comes at a time when India’s solar energy sector is undergoing a structural shift driven by regulatory frameworks such as the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) and the Approved List of Cell Manufacturers (ALCM). These policies are increasing demand for domestically manufactured solar components while narrowing the pool of compliant suppliers available to developers.

First Solar’s established manufacturing presence in India positions it as a key supplier within this evolving ecosystem, helping project developers reduce compliance uncertainty and strengthen supply chain resilience. The collaboration between the two companies aims to ensure greater execution certainty for utility-scale solar projects.

Over the past year, GameChange Solar has undertaken targeted engineering and research and development initiatives to optimize compatibility between its tracker systems and First Solar’s India-manufactured Series 7 modules. This integration work extends beyond standard system matching, focusing on performance optimization tailored specifically to tracker architecture.

Both companies are also working jointly on enhancing system-level performance outcomes. The combination of First Solar’s thin-film module technology with GameChangeSolar’s tracking systems is designed to improve generation profiles across daily operating cycles, delivering more consistent energy output for project owners.

According to Vikram Kenjale, Vice President – India at GameChange Solar, the solar industry is shifting from isolated component selection toward integrated system design, where module-tracker interaction plays a key role in overall plant performance. He noted that field performance data confirms the value of this integrated approach.

Sujoy Ghosh, Vice President – Business Development at First Solar, stated that India remains a strategic market for the company and highlighted ongoing investments in local manufacturing capacity. He added that collaborations of this nature help ensure predictable project execution supported by reliable domestic supply chains.
