Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited (CleanMax) to procure hybrid renewable energy for its manufacturing facilities in Dahej and Vadodara. The project combines 75.90 MW of wind power capacity with 84.34 MWp of solar power generation and represents one of the largest renewable energy initiatives undertaken by the company to date.

Developed under a group captive model, the project will supply 100 percent of the generated renewable power to GACL’s operations. The initiative is expected to strengthen energy security, improve cost predictability, and support the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of its manufacturing activities.

The renewable energy assets will be developed across four CleanMax sites in Gujarat—Kalikanagar, Aji Dahisarda, Rajula, and Ghuntu. Once fully operational, the facilities are projected to generate approximately 369 million units of clean electricity annually. The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 264,204 tonnes each year, an environmental impact comparable to planting more than 15 million trees annually.

Execution of the project will take place in two phases. The first phase includes 16.50 MW of wind capacity and 21.701 MWp of solar capacity, while the second phase will add 59.40 MW of wind and 62.64 MWp of solar generation. Both phases will be commissioned according to agreed timelines and will support uninterrupted renewable power supply to GACL’s production facilities.

As one of India’s leading chlor-alkali manufacturers, GACL operates in a highly energy-intensive sector where electricity plays a critical role in production processes. The adoption of hybrid renewable energy is expected to help the company meet sustainability objectives while maintaining operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Avantika Singh, IAS, said sustainability remains a core component of GACL’s long-term business strategy. She noted that integrating renewable energy into the company’s power mix aligns environmental responsibility with reliable industrial operations and supports efforts to reduce emissions across manufacturing activities.

Kuldeep Jain, Founder and Managing Director of CleanMax, said the project demonstrates how large industrial enterprises can transition to renewable energy at scale without compromising operational reliability. He added that the agreement represents the largest group captive renewable energy project secured by CleanMax and reinforces Gujarat’s position as a leading market for industrial clean energy adoption.
