Fujitsu Research of India Private Ltd (FRIPL) has emerged as the company’s largest research facility outside Japan, according to Vivek Mahajan, Corporate Executive Officer and CTO of Fujitsu Ltd. The FRIPL team is working on Fujitsu’s advanced Monaka processor, and Mahajan emphasized that India is viewed as a high-value research center, not just a low-cost location.

“We employ PhDs and Master’s degree holders from premier institutions like IITs and IISc, aiming to lead in fields such as quantum software, processor development, AI, networks, photonics, and security,” said Mahajan. He also highlighted that their work in India is not only cutting-edge for the country but has global significance.

The Monaka processor, based on a 2-nanometer Arm architecture, is set to launch in FY27 and aims to meet carbon neutrality targets by providing energy-efficient solutions for green data centers and supercomputing. Additionally, Fujitsu is collaborating with Supermicro to develop high-performance, energy-efficient servers, with a focus on liquid-cooled systems for AI and green data centers.

FRIPL, established in April 2022, now employs around 375 people specializing in areas like AI, quantum computing, and networking. Mahajan clarified that India is not a back-end operations hub, but rather a critical part of Fujitsu’s global innovation strategy.

Fujitsu Consulting India, which was founded in 2001, employs over 9,000 people across five cities. The company’s global market focus includes the U.S., Japan, Australia, Singapore, and major European markets like the UK, Germany, and France. Key sectors for it worldwide include telecom, manufacturing, retail, and government defense.

Fujitsu Research of India Private Ltd is a key division of the company, a global leader in information and communication technology (ICT) solutions. Based in India, the research arm focuses on developing cutting-edge technologies in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.

Fujitsu Research of India plays a pivotal role in the company’s global innovation strategy, contributing to advancements in digital transformation and sustainability. Through collaborative efforts with academia, government, and industry partners, it aims to address critical challenges and create solutions that drive progress in diverse sectors, from healthcare to smart cities.
