Fronius expands its proven Ignis series with the launch of the new Ignis 250, a powerful manual arc (MMA) welding system designed to deliver up to 250 A for demanding applications on site, in workshops, and during maintenance operations. Built for tough everyday use, the Ignis 250 combines high performance with practical functionality, offering welders greater output, simpler operation, and an extended XT version engineered for worldwide use.
Welding environments are rarely ideal. From unstable power supplies and harsh weather to restricted access and challenging welding positions, welders must consistently achieve reliable, high-quality results under changing conditions. The Ignis series has been developed to maintain a stable arc even in difficult circumstances, supporting dependable weld quality in real-world settings. With the Ignis 250, Fronius brings this same stability and ease of use to heavier-duty welding tasks that require increased power, enabling welders to take on thicker materials and more demanding job requirements without compromising performance.
“MMA welding is being used on a wider variety of materials and applications than ever before. That creates the need for machines that can deliver the right performance,” says Michael Eisterhuber, Product Manager at Fronius. Designed as a three-phase system, the Ignis 250 expands the existing Ignis 150/180 product range and offers maximum flexibility for electrode welding up to 250 A. This makes it well suited for applications involving greater material thicknesses or larger electrodes, supporting consistent results across a wide range of working conditions.
In addition to its higher output, the Ignis 250 includes established Ignis features such as HotStart, SoftStart, anti-stick, MMA Pulse, and TrackingArc to help ensure arc stability and clean weld performance in overhead work, deep welding positions, or other difficult-to-reach areas. The system is available in country-specific variants, and Fronius also offers the Ignis 250 XT for increased flexibility in challenging power situations. Thanks to its extended input voltage range and single-phase operation, the XT version can be used worldwide and operates reliably on generator power, making it an ideal solution for jobs where input power conditions may be unpredictable.
To support fast turnaround times and simplify setup, the Ignis 250 features an updated control panel designed to make welding parameters easy to view, adjust, and monitor during operation. The intuitive interface provides direct access to essential settings, including a favorites function that places the most frequently used parameters at the first menu level. Up to five EasyJobs—predefined welding-relevant settings—can also be saved, while a welding current display allows for precise output control throughout the welding process.
Engineered for durability, the Ignis 250 is designed as a long-term companion for use in harsh environments, including outdoor applications. Its robust housing and high-quality materials are intended to withstand demanding jobsite conditions and support an extended service life. Like all Fronius systems, the Ignis 250 is also designed with long-term serviceability in mind, with easily accessible components that allow maintenance and repairs to be completed quickly and efficiently when needed.
