Freudenberg Opens Advanced Manufacturing Facilities in Morinda

Global technology leader Freudenberg Group has inaugurated two cutting-edge manufacturing plants in Morinda, Punjab, spanning 40,700 square meters. Operated by Freudenberg-NOK India Pvt. Ltd. and Vibracoustic India, the new facilities consolidate operations from the company’s previous sites in Basma and Mohali. This move is part of Freudenberg’s strategy to improve production efficiency and fuel its long-term expansion in India.

With an investment of over €42 million, the new Morinda plants mark Freudenberg’s largest investment in India. These state-of-the-art facilities will cater to both domestic and international markets, reinforcing Freudenberg’s commitment to India’s “Make in India” initiative. The plants are designed to serve industries such as automotive and industrial manufacturing, enhancing the company’s competitive edge through optimized material flows and modernized technology.

At the inauguration, Freudenberg Group CEO Dr Mohsen Sohi said, “This investment underscores our commitment to the Indian market and aligns with our global growth objectives. These new facilities allow us to serve customers more efficiently and deliver innovation and quality. As Freudenberg celebrates 175 years of excellence, we are proud to strengthen our presence in India.”

The new facilities are designed with sustainability in mind, featuring energy-efficient equipment, solar panels supplying 15% of the plant’s energy needs, and water-recharging stations to reduce the environmental footprint.

Freudenberg Performance Materials India Managing Director Mr. Sivasailam G. emphasized the company’s commitment to India, saying, “These new plants reflect our dedication to sustainable growth and job creation. By centralizing operations here, we can better serve both local and global markets with top-tier products made in India.”

The Morinda expansion is expected to create around 200 new jobs, increasing the local workforce by 20%. The site will also act as a global engineering hub, attracting talent from universities in the Chandigarh region.
