UK Ministry of Defence has selected Finecast Foundry as one of a limited group of high-performing SMEs for the Defence Supplier Capability Development Programme (DSCDP), following a rigorous national evaluation process. Out of 561 applicants from across the United Kingdom, only 10 companies were chosen for the programme, highlighting Finecast’s strong technical capability, operational maturity, and alignment with future defence requirements. The initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to strengthen industrial capacity and build a more resilient, competitive supply chain.

Finecast’s selection reflects its proven track record in delivering high-integrity cast and machined components for defence applications. The company has demonstrated the ability to operate within complex, highly regulated supply chains while maintaining consistent quality, delivery, and performance standards. Its integrated manufacturing model and ongoing investments in workforce development have further reinforced its position as a trusted supplier.

Chris Heatley, CEO and Founder of Finecast Foundry, described the selection as a significant milestone for the business. He noted that participation in the programme validates the company’s long-term strategy to grow as a Tier 1 supplier supporting defence programmes across the UK and Europe.

Through the DSCDP, Finecast will receive tailored business improvement support, including access to specialist expertise and structured capability development initiatives. The programme is designed to enhance supplier resilience, scalability, and competitiveness in response to evolving defence sector demands.

Duncan Levesley, Programme Director at Grant Thornton, which is delivering the programme on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, said the collaboration will help strengthen Finecast’s strategic contribution to the UK defence ecosystem. The support package is valued at up to £200,000 and will focus on accelerating growth and capability enhancement.

Operating under AS/EN9100-certified processes, Finecast continues to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies, skilled personnel, and operational systems. These efforts are aimed at supporting critical defence programmes while ensuring long-term growth and competitiveness. The company’s inclusion in the DSCDP underscores its role in supporting national defence priorities and advancing the UK’s industrial capability in high-precision manufacturing.
