Epiroc has unveiled the Minetruck MT33, a new underground haul truck engineered to deliver 33-tonne capacity while operating efficiently in medium-sized drifts. The model combines a smaller physical footprint with performance typically associated with larger haulage equipment, prioritising productivity, operator comfort, and safety. Prerna Devkar, Global Product Manager Minetruck – Small Segment within Epiroc’s Underground division, emphasized that the MT33’s rugged design, low profile, automatic transmission and fast ramp speeds support optimal performance in demanding mining conditions.
Developed from the long-established Minetruck MT436B platform and shaped through direct collaboration with customers, the MT33 introduces improvements intended to enhance efficiency and in-cab comfort. It incorporates safety elements such as factory-installed emergency stops, fail-safe braking, and integrated cameras that boost visibility during underground operations. The truck is designed for durability through strategic component placement that minimizes wear and maximises service life.
The Minetruck MT33 is further supported by a smart PLC display that increases accessibility to performance data and simplifies diagnostics for maintenance teams. Functions such as engine delay shutdown and soft stopping help reduce machine stress, contributing to extended uptime and sustained productivity in continuous mining operations.
