Elgi Equipments Limited (BSE: 522074 | NSE: ELGIEQUIP), a global leader in air compressor manufacturing, has completed 13 years of association with the Coimbatore Marathon, reaffirming its long-term commitment to health, fitness, and community well-being. As the event’s “Powered By” partner, ELGi continues to support one of Coimbatore’s most prominent sporting and social initiatives, which this year brought together more than 25,000 participants, including over 1,725 ELGi employees and their family members.

Organised by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF), the marathon was originally established to increase awareness about cancer and extend support to patients and caregivers. Over time, it has evolved into a signature event for the city, closely identified with cancer awareness and large-scale community participation. Funds raised through the marathon have enabled CCF to broaden its impact through early detection and screening programmes, counselling and follow-up care, palliative services, and financial assistance for treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, diagnostics, hospitalisation, and rehabilitation.

Commenting on ELGi’s continued involvement, Anvar Jay Varadaraj, Chief Operating Officer, Elgi Equipments Limited, said the company is honoured to support the marathon for the 13th consecutive year and to once again partner with CCF for a cause of lasting significance. He noted that the strong participation from ELGi employees and their families reflects a shared sense of responsibility toward promoting cancer awareness and supporting patient care. Over the years, the marathon has grown into a unifying platform that blends fitness, well-being, and social commitment, while also contributing directly to treatment and community care initiatives.

Ramesh Ponnuswami, Executive President – Operations and ELGi Business System, Elgi Equipments Limited, and Race Director of the Coimbatore Marathon, highlighted that the same principles that guide ELGi—structured systems, disciplined execution, and a people-first approach—also shape how the marathon is organised. He expressed appreciation for the strong response this year, with thousands of runners and volunteers coming together under the spirit of “Let’s Ko Kovai!”. Beyond race day, the focus remains on delivering a safe, well-managed, and rewarding experience by leveraging technology, best practices, and collective expertise.

The marathon includes multiple race categories such as the 21.1 km Half Marathon, 10 km Run, 5 km Timed Run, 5 km Walk, and a Corporate Relay. Participants are supported by a professionally managed course featuring hydration stations, medical teams, ambulances, timing systems, and a well-organised finish zone to ensure safety and comfort throughout the event.

Over the past decade, ELGi’s sustained association with the Coimbatore Marathon has helped nurture a culture of fitness in the city while advancing awareness and action around cancer care. As the event continues to expand in scale and reach, ELGi remains dedicated to initiatives that generate long-term social impact and healthier communities.
