EBRO Armaturen has expanded its EP3 electropneumatic positioner range with two new variants designed for demanding industrial environments. The portfolio now includes an ATEX-certified model for hazardous areas and a corrosion-resistant CS5M version for applications exposed to seawater and other aggressive conditions.
The EP3 positioner is designed for use with single-acting and double-acting pneumatic EBRO actuators. It can be used for both on/off and modulating valve control applications across industrial installations. Standard EP3 features include automatic calibration, accurate setpoint positioning and integrated diagnostic and monitoring functions. These functions allow users to continuously assess operating conditions and support reliable valve operation.
The new ATEX-certified EP3 extends the positioner’s use to hazardous areas classified as Zones 2 and 22. It covers Equipment Categories 3G and 3D and is designed to meet applicable explosion-protection requirements while retaining the functionality of the standard EP3. The second new variant, the CS5M, has been developed for environments where equipment is exposed to seawater or other highly corrosive conditions. EBRO positions the model as a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel positioners.
The CS5M uses specialised hard-anodising surface treatments to protect its switch box and pneumatic control valves. The treatment provides resistance against wear and corrosion, making the positioner suitable for installations where conventional materials may face increased exposure to aggressive environments.
Both new versions retain the operating features of the standard EP3. Automatic calibration, setpoint positioning and integrated diagnostics remain available, while existing interfaces and communication options are supported. This common design allows the new positioners to be used in both new installations and plant modernisation projects. Users can therefore extend EP3 functionality to different operating environments without changing the basic control concept.
EBRO Armaturen is also supporting engineering and project planning through verified EPLAN macros containing relevant technical information. These tools are designed to simplify system configuration, engineering documentation and project preparation.
The expanded EP3 range gives industrial operators greater flexibility when selecting positioners for pneumatic valve applications. The ATEX model addresses the requirements of hazardous locations, while the CS5M provides an option for corrosive environments without requiring a stainless steel construction. With the addition of these variants, EBRO Armaturen is extending the application range of its EP3 platform while maintaining a consistent approach to valve automation, diagnostics and system integration.
