Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DICABS) will install an additional Catenary Continuous Vulcanisation (CCV) line at its manufacturing plant in Vadodara, Gujarat, to increase production capacity for XLPE-insulated power cables rated up to 132 kV. The machinery is scheduled for delivery by August 2027, with commissioning targeted by December 31, 2027. Following the expansion, the company will operate six CCV lines and five silane lines at its 130-acre integrated manufacturing facility.
The investment is aimed at increasing DICABS’s capacity to manufacture high-voltage and extra-high-voltage (EHV) cables. Demand for underground cabling has been rising from state utilities, transmission developers, renewable energy parks and data centres, creating a need for additional manufacturing capacity and shorter delivery timelines.
The new line will be supported by the company’s existing in-house manufacturing and testing infrastructure. This includes aluminium rod mills, in-house compounding facilities and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)-accredited high-voltage testing laboratories rated up to 765 kV.
Kavish Shah, Vice President of Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited, said the company’s EHV order book was growing and customers were seeking higher volumes with shorter delivery schedules. He said the additional CCV line would strengthen DICABS’s ability to serve the medium-voltage and EHV cable markets from a single integrated location.
The expansion will add to the company’s existing production capabilities and support its plans to address demand from India’s power transmission and distribution sector. Underground cables are increasingly required for infrastructure projects involving utilities, renewable energy installations and other large power-consuming facilities.
DICABS manufactures power cables across a range of voltage ratings, along with high-performance conductors used in power transmission and distribution networks. The new CCV line will expand its capability in the 132 kV cable segment, while the company’s existing testing facilities will continue to support product quality and performance requirements. The company expects the additional capacity to help it respond to customer requirements as its EHV business grows.
Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited manufactures power cables and conductors under the DICABS brand. With 55 years of experience in the cable industry, the company produces power cables rated from 1.1 kV to 400 kV, along with high-temperature low-sag (HTLS), AL-59, all-aluminium alloy conductor (AAAC) and other high-performance conductors. Its integrated manufacturing facility is located in Vadodara, Gujarat.
