DCM Shriram Limited has announced a $90 million investment commitment from the International Finance Corporation, the private sector investment arm of the World Bank Group. The investment will be made through the subscription of Sustainability-Linked Non-Convertible Debentures to be issued by the company.

The financing arrangement is structured in accordance with internationally recognized sustainability standards established by the International Capital Market Association and the Loan Market Association. These frameworks guide sustainability-linked bonds and loans by linking financing terms to measurable environmental or social performance indicators.

The transaction is also aligned with the company’s Sustainability-Linked Loan framework, which defines the sustainability targets connected to the financing structure. The framework has been independently reviewed by CareEdge ESG, which provided a Second Party Opinion confirming the credibility and transparency of the sustainability goals outlined in the program.

Company representatives say the investment highlights DCM Shriram’s focus on integrating sustainability into its long-term financing strategy. The capital raised through the debenture issuance will support a range of strategic initiatives and help strengthen the company’s operational and growth plans.

A portion of the funding will be directed toward expanding downstream operations in the company’s chemicals segment. The investment is expected to support increased manufacturing capacity and value-added production while contributing to the broader development of India’s industrial base.

The financing will also help support the expansion of DCM Shriram’s agricultural businesses, which work closely with farming communities across the country. Investments in these operations are expected to support rural supply chains and create employment opportunities in regions connected to agricultural production and processing.

Amit Agarwal, Group Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at DCM Shriram, said the transaction marks an important milestone in the company’s efforts to align growth with sustainability objectives. He noted that the partnership with IFC spans more than two decades and continues to support initiatives that improve operational efficiency while strengthening environmental performance.

Imad N Fakhoury, Regional Division Director for South Asia at IFC, said the investment reflects shared priorities between the organization and the company in supporting industrial growth, job creation and the development of resilient supply chains. He noted that strengthening manufacturing capacity and rural value chains aligns with national economic development initiatives focused on domestic production and self-reliance.

By linking financing terms to sustainability targets, the structure encourages measurable improvements in environmental performance while supporting business expansion. Transparent reporting and independent verification mechanisms are intended to provide stakeholders with visibility into progress against the agreed sustainability metrics.
