DCM Shriram, a diversified conglomerate, has announced the successful commissioning of its Caustic Soda expansion project at its Chemical complex in Jhagadia, Bharuch District, Gujarat. The new facility adds 850 tonnes per day (TPD) to the company’s Caustic Soda production capacity, further strengthening its position in the market.

With the completion of this expansion project, DCM Shriram’s total installed capacity of Caustic Soda at the Bharuch site has increased to 2,225 TPD. The addition of this capacity boosts the company’s overall annual Caustic Soda production to 1 million metric tonnes across its Bharuch and Kota locations.

In a statement, DCM Shriram highlighted the significance of this milestone, noting that the Bharuch complex will now be the single largest Caustic Soda complex in the country. This achievement is expected to drive economies of scale and enhance the company’s competitiveness in the market.

DCM Shriram operates across various business segments, including agri-rural, chloro-vinyl, and value-added businesses such as Fenesta Building Systems, which specializes in UPVC windows and doors.

Despite the positive development in its Caustic Soda expansion, DCM Shriram reported a decline in consolidated net profit for the third quarter of FY24. The company’s net profit fell by 29.7% to Rs 240.48 crore compared to Rs 342.09 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Additionally, total revenue from operations decreased by 5.7% year-on-year to Rs 3,022.92 crore in Q3 FY24.

Despite these challenges, DCM Shriram remains optimistic about its future prospects, leveraging its expanded Caustic Soda capacity to drive growth and profitability in the coming quarters.
