Coca-Cola is set to bolster its manufacturing capabilities in India with the establishment of a new greenfield plant in Telangana’s Peddapalli district. The global beverage giant is investing ₹700 crore through its wholly owned bottling subsidiary, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB). Potential sites for the facility have already been identified.

This development follows a series of discussions at Coca-Cola’s headquarters in Atlanta, United States. During these talks, a delegation from Telangana, including Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu and R&B and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy, met with senior executives like Head of Fiscal Policy Jonathan Rief. The discussions culminated in the announcement of the new plant.

“This decision marks a significant shift of new large-scale manufacturing capacities by multinational companies into the hinterland of the state away from Hyderabad, thereby leading to a more distributed industrial growth in the state, in line with the priority of the new government,” said Minister Sridhar Babu.

The Minister emphasized the importance of this move in promoting industrial growth beyond Hyderabad and reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting multinational companies. The government will provide the necessary infrastructure, utilities, permissions, and skilled manpower for the new plant.

HCCB CEO Juan Pablo Rodriguez, along with senior executives, had previously discussed the expansion plans with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Minister Sridhar Babu. The state government has pledged full cooperation and support for the project.

In addition to the new plant in Peddapalli, HCCB is preparing to commence commercial production at its recently established ₹1,600 crore manufacturing facility near Hyderabad. This plant represents a significant investment in the region and is expected to enhance Coca-Cola’s production capabilities.

Telangana already hosts one of HCCB’s largest plants in Ameenpur, which saw a ₹142 crore investment for expansion in 2020. Furthermore, in April 2022, HCCB signed an MoU with the state government, committing to invest ₹1,000 crore in a new greenfield plant in Siddipet. The establishment of the new plant in Peddapalli underscores Coca-Cola’s commitment to expanding its footprint in India and contributing to the industrial growth of Telangana.
