ChemVolt Global has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to establish a 5 GWh lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility in the state. The proposed investment of INR 2,500 crore is aimed at expanding domestic cell manufacturing capacity for grid-scale battery energy storage systems, clean mobility, and commercial and industrial energy storage applications.

The project is expected to generate approximately 1,500 direct jobs across manufacturing, engineering, operations, and quality functions, along with more than 4,000 indirect jobs through supplier, logistics, and ancillary industries. The facility will be developed in phases, with Phase I targeting a 1 GWh production line by Q3 2027, followed by Phase II expansion to 5 GWh by Q2 2029.

The plant will manufacture 314 Ah and 750 Ah prismatic lithium-ion cells designed for grid storage, heavy electric vehicles, and C&I applications, serving both domestic and export markets. According to the company, the project is intended to support the development of a broader supplier and services ecosystem around advanced battery manufacturing.

Commenting on the development, Kuldeep Gupta, Founder and CEO of ChemVolt Global, said the project represents a key step in strengthening India’s battery supply chain and creating high-value manufacturing jobs, while positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for advanced energy storage manufacturing.

ChemVolt Global also announced the expansion of its energy storage portfolio with the launch of four Cell-to-Grid ESS products. The Starlight Series includes a 5.016 MWh DC block in a 20-ft container and a 9.16 MWh AC block in a 40-ft container, both liquid-cooled. The Titan Series includes a 1.6 MWh AC block and a 2.5 MWh DC block in 12-ft cabinets, designed for commercial and industrial use.
