Burckhardt Compression has secured two orders to supply six process gas compressor packages and related services for the Boaventura Energy Complex, a major Petrobras energy project in ItaboraĆ, Rio de Janeiro. The orders are part of three parallel projects being executed at the complex by engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies. The compressor packages will support natural gas processing, as well as new refining and lubricant production facilities.
The project marks an important step in Burckhardt Compressionās plans to expand its business in South America. Brazil is one of the regionās key energy markets, and the company said the new orders strengthen its relationship with Petrobras and its project partners. The Boaventura Energy Complex, formerly known as Comperj, is an important part of Petrobrasā plans to reduce the carbon intensity of its energy operations. The complex brings together natural gas processing and new industrial facilities, while future plans include green hydrogen research and biorefining initiatives aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Andreas Brautsch, President, Systems Division at Burckhardt Compression, said Brazil is one of South Americaās most important energy hubs and a strategic market for the company. āWinning this order from Petrobras is a significant success for our team and a strong validation of our commitment to the region,ā MR Brautsch said. He added that the order highlights the importance of working closely with customers and combining local expertise with the companyās global engineering capabilities.
The compressor systems supplied by Burckhardt Compression will play an important role in the processing and production operations planned at the complex. Process gas compressors are used to handle gases at different stages of industrial operations and are critical equipment in natural gas processing and refining facilities.
The company has been increasing its focus on the South American market and has built closer cooperation with Petrobras and other project partners in recent years. Its expanded local presence is also being supported by a recently opened additional service centre in Brazil.
The new service facility is expected to strengthen Burckhardt Compressionās ability to provide maintenance, technical assistance and other services to customers in Brazil and neighbouring markets. The latest orders add to the companyās growing presence in Brazilās energy sector and support its strategy of combining global technology with local service capabilities.
Burckhardt Compression said it will continue to develop its activities in South America as investment in natural gas, refining and emerging lower-carbon energy technologies creates new opportunities for compressor systems and related services. The Boaventura Energy Complex is expected to remain an important industrial and energy project for Brazil as the country works to expand natural gas processing while developing new technologies and fuels for a lower-carbon energy future.
