Big Bang Boom Solutions (BBBS), an Indian deep-technology defence company, announced the commissioning of a new 20,000-square-foot research and development facility in Chennai along with the launch of two Capability and Service Centers in Pune and Delhi. The company said the expansion strengthens its execution capacity and supports its growing role in India’s defence technology ecosystem. BBBS noted that the milestone builds on a strong innovation track record, including six iDEX contracts and the i4F Indo-Israel grant.

The new R&D facility in Chennai includes six specialized laboratories, including a 4,000-square-foot Electronics Warfare Center designed to support development in electronic warfare systems in response to evolving defence needs. BBBS also stated that it plans to expand its R&D workforce over the next six months, adding 40 specialized researchers across key domains such as artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and nanotechnology. The company said this expansion will support new programs and strengthen its ability to deliver against both domestic and international orders with improved speed and efficiency.

BBBS highlighted that it recently completed its first large-scale order and described the delivery as a key achievement for an indigenous startup executing a major defence contract ahead of schedule. The company said this progress has helped build a stronger platform for accelerating innovation and scaling advanced technology development. BBBS also noted that a stable and supportive regulatory environment remains a critical factor enabling faster scaling and execution across its order pipeline.

Commenting on the expansion, Praveen Dwarakanath, CEO of BBBS, said the timely receipt of government dues linked to the on-schedule delivery of the company’s anti-drone systems has strengthened cash reserves. He added that BBBS is reinvesting these gains into research and development to support advanced product innovation and drive the company’s next stage of growth.

Dr Shivaraman Ramaswamy, CTO, stated that BBBS’s focus on product quality, continuous innovation, and strong execution has helped establish a robust presence across multiple defence product categories. He added that the expansion of research and capability infrastructure is expected to support stronger performance in FY27, both in terms of research outcomes and financial progress.

BBBS develops indigenous next-generation defence, aerospace, and dual-use technologies. With strong research foundations and a growing patent portfolio, the company works across autonomous systems, counter-UAV technologies, UAV platforms, smart surveillance solutions, and tactical systems. Its products include autonomous drone systems, anti-drone solutions, wearable soldier technologies, portable shooting ranges, and AI-enabled situational awareness platforms designed for deployment in demanding operational environments.
