Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL), a global aerospace and technology company, has partnered with VEDA Aeronautics Pvt Ltd, a leading Indian aerospace and defense firm, to participate in India’s “Make in India” program. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focuses on developing advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and high-speed aerial weapon systems for defense applications. VEDA, known for its expertise in unmanned system technology, will work alongside BFL, which will supply the micro jet engines that power these systems.
The MoU aims to leverage both companies’ strengths to enhance India’s defense capabilities and contribute to self-reliance in defense technology. Guru Biswal, CEO of Bharat Forge’s Aerospace Division, emphasized the commitment to advancing “Atmanirbhar Bharat” by developing niche technologies to support both domestic and global defense needs. BFL will specifically focus on the indigenous development of jet engines with up to 400 Kgf thrust, which will be used to power UAVs for the Indian defense forces.
VEDA Aeronautics Managing Director, Dipesh Gupta, expressed excitement over the strategic partnership, which will see BFL supply small jet engines for VEDA’s defense and unmanned system projects. The collaboration is set to advance technological innovation in military systems, particularly for Long-Range Combat UAVs, High-Speed Aerial Targets, and Multi-Barrel Launched Jet-Based UAV Systems.
