Bentley and bp Strengthen Collaboration for Enhanced Asset Information Management & Integrity

BENTLEY AND BP COLLABORATE TO ENHANCE ASSET MANAGEMENT

Bentley Systems and bp have deepened their collaboration, with bp standardizing Bentley’s AssetWise ALIM and deploying AssetWise Reliability globally. This move aims to streamline engineering information management, improve safety, and optimize operations in the energy sector. The collaboration showcases the power of technology and innovation in driving positive change and efficiency in asset management and integrity.

Bentley Systems, a leading infrastructure engineering software company, is excited to announce the expansion of its collaboration with bp, a global energy company. bp has chosen Bentley’s AssetWise Asset Lifecycle Information Management (ALIM) and AssetWise Reliability (AR), components of Bentley Infrastructure Cloud, to enhance its asset information management, structural integrity, and reliability efforts on a global scale.

In a prior collaboration in 2019, bp selected Bentley to provide its advanced AssetWise ALIM solution as a Central Information Store (CIS) to manage change in a controlled manner. This solution played a significant role in preserving validated information necessary for global projects and operations, covering all essential documents, tags, associated metadata, and 3D model visualization.

Building on this successful partnership, bp is now taking a substantial step forward by standardizing AssetWise ALIM across all its projects, production facilities, and manufacturing assets. AssetWise ALIM’s capabilities facilitate a seamless transfer of vital information throughout an asset’s lifecycle, supporting the entire capital project process and ongoing operations with increased efficiency. This standardization is set to not only enhance project and operational efficiency but also contribute significantly to overall safety and reliability. The initial implementation of AssetWise Reliability on the Clair Asset in the North Sea was highly successful, and a global deployment across eight regions is currently underway.

Alan Kiraly, Senior Vice President of Industry Solutions at Bentley Systems, expressed his thoughts on this collaboration, stating, “Bentley has maintained a long-standing relationship with bp, providing AssetWise ALIM as a Central Information Store to manage and maintain critical information for projects and operations worldwide. The integration of AssetWise Reliability in a cloud-based environment to support bp’s Asset Integrity processes underscores Bentley’s commitment to delivering standardized digital workflows and substantial benefits to bp.”

Rob Kelly, Vice President of Digital Asset Management at bp, expressed his satisfaction with this collaboration, stating, “I am pleased to be expanding the use of Bentley’s AssetWise portfolio of solutions, specifically by extending ALIM across bp’s global projects, production, and manufacturing assets and integrating Asset Reliability. This move ensures bp the assurance and advantage of information accuracy through effective change control, enabling us to make trusted decisions in both projects and operations.”

This collaboration between Bentley Systems and bp highlights the potential of technology and innovation in the energy sector, driving advancements in asset management, safety, and operational excellence. This partnership has already yielded notable benefits for bp, and with the expanded use of Bentley’s solutions, even more positive outcomes are on the horizon.

The standardization of AssetWise ALIM and the global deployment of AssetWise Reliability are clear indicators of the positive impact technology can have on asset information management, integrity, and operational efficiency. As both organisations move forward with this expanded collaboration, the energy sector can look forward to even more significant advancements in the field of asset management and integrity.
