BEML, a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking, has unveiled an expansion of its infrastructure at the historic Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) complex in Bengaluru. The company launched three advanced production units aimed at boosting its defence manufacturing capabilities, marking a significant step in strengthening indigenous defence solutions.
The new units, inaugurated by BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy, are designed to manufacture and service Armoured Recovery Vehicles (ARVs) and their advanced variants. This expansion is part of BEML’s ongoing efforts to enhance its defence mobility solutions and create a competitive global ecosystem for military platforms.
The new facilities include two units measuring 30×140 metres and one unit of 30×100 metres, all equipped with integrated stores and logistics sections to optimize component flow and reduce production turnaround time. The smart manufacturing design of these units will facilitate high-efficiency production, rapid integration, and quality-controlled assembly, enabling BEML to quickly adapt to the evolving needs of the defence sector.
