Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), a defense company, announced it has won a €25.75 million export order from Thales Reliance Defence Systems. This order is for Transmit Receive (TR) modules, which will be used in fighter aircraft radars.
Additionally, BEL has received orders worth ₹192 crore for communication equipment, encryptors, and radar services since its last update on June 28. With these new orders, BEL’s total for the financial year 2025 has now reached ₹5,225 crore.
BEL’s shares have been reaching all-time highs recently due to the influx of orders. At the time of this report, the shares were down 0.8% at ₹332.8, compared to an all-time high of ₹340.5. This year, the stock has risen 80%, and over the last five years, it has provided about 840% returns to shareholders.
The Indian government aims to achieve ₹175,000 crore in local defense manufacturing and ₹35,000 crore in defense exports by 2024-25. To support this goal, the government has introduced policies to boost local design and production of defense equipment.
India’s defense exports reached a record ₹21,083 crore (about $2.63 billion) in the 2023-24 financial year, marking a 32.5% increase from the previous year. Over the last decade, defense exports have grown 31 times since 2013-14. The total value of defense production in India also rose 17% to ₹1,26,887 crore last year.
