Beckhoff Automation will highlight new advances in physical AI at Hannover Messe 2026, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can work directly with industrial machine control. At Stand G56 in Hall 27, the company will present technologies that connect large language models with motion control systems through standardized interfaces, allowing machines to respond to spoken commands and execute complex tasks.
The demonstration will give visitors an early look at how artificial intelligence can be integrated into real manufacturing environments. Beckhoff will present a compact demo cell that combines its XPlanar planar motor system with TwinCAT CoAgent software and an audio interface. Using voice commands, users can direct floating movers to perform motion sequences, showing how automation can become more intuitive and accessible to operators without advanced programming skills.
This approach represents a shift in industrial automation. By linking AI models with deterministic control systems, machines can interpret context and adapt to changing conditions rather than relying only on fixed instructions. The technology aims to support more flexible production processes and reduce the complexity of operating advanced equipment.
At Hannover Messe, Beckhoff will also present a larger industrial example using its ATRO modular robot system. Controlled through TwinCAT CoAgent for Operations, the robot will interpret spoken instructions, translate them into machine commands, and manage path planning and diagnostics. As part of an interactive display, the system will challenge visitors to a game of chess, demonstrating how AI-driven automation can coordinate movement and decision-making in real time.
Beckhoff’s automation ecosystem includes tools such as TwinCAT CoAgent and TwinCAT Machine Learning Creator, which support machine builders from design through operation and maintenance. These tools help integrate AI into automation projects, manage performance data, and simplify troubleshooting.
Hans Beckhoff, Managing Director and owner of Beckhoff Automation, said the company is working to bring AI from computer interfaces into real-world machines. He noted that connecting language-based AI with industrial controls can change how people interact with equipment and improve efficiency across manufacturing.
Hannover Messe 2026 will take place from April 20 to 24, bringing together global technology leaders to present innovations shaping the future of industry. Beckhoff’s exhibit will focus on how physical AI can expand automation capabilities, making production systems smarter, more flexible, and easier to operate.
