BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited has secured a new contract from the Howrah Division of Eastern Railway for the execution of overhead electrification works associated with the replacement of old Guy Rod Assemblies. The company has received the official Letter of Acceptance for the project, which carries a total contract value of ₹47.23 million and is scheduled for completion over an 18-month period.
The project involves critical 25 KV Overhead Equipment (OHE) works aimed at strengthening and modernizing railway electrification infrastructure within the Howrah Division. The replacement of aging Guy Rod Assemblies is expected to enhance system reliability, improve operational safety, and support the long-term performance of railway electrification assets across the network.
The latest order adds to BCPL Railway Infrastructure’s growing portfolio of railway electrification projects and reflects the company’s continued participation in India’s expanding rail modernization initiatives. With railway infrastructure remaining a key focus area for national development, the demand for electrification upgrades, network expansion, and capacity enhancement projects continues to create opportunities across the sector.
Commenting on the development, Aparesh Nandi, Chairman of BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited, said, “We are pleased to receive this important order from the Howrah Division of Eastern Railway. The project further reinforces our expertise in railway electrification and demonstrates the confidence that railway authorities continue to place in our capabilities. We remain optimistic about future opportunities as infrastructure investments across the railway sector continue to accelerate.”
He added that ongoing initiatives involving network expansion, additional rail lines, speed enhancement projects, EPC contracts, and modernization programs are expected to sustain a strong pipeline of opportunities for specialized railway infrastructure companies.
Over the past three decades, BCPL Railway Infrastructure has built a strong reputation in the field of railway electrification, supporting projects across multiple railway zones and industrial sectors. The company has contributed to the development of critical transportation infrastructure connecting urban centers, industrial corridors, rural regions, and the northeastern parts of the country.
BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited is an Indian engineering and infrastructure company that specializes in the development and execution of railway electrification and related infrastructure projects. Incorporated in 1995 as Bapi Construction Electrical Engineering Private Limited, it was converted into a public company and renamed BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited in 2008.
The company is listed on the BSE and has its registered office in Kolkata, West Bengal. BCPL’s core business revolves around the design, drawing, supply, erection and commissioning of 25 KV, 50 Hz single-phase traction overhead equipment (OHE), which is a critical component for the electrification of railway lines. It also provides turnkey solutions for setting up traction substations that regulate electrical power for electric locomotives. The company works extensively with various zones of Indian Railways and government agencies, executing electrification contracts and modernisation projects across the country.
Over the years, BCPL has expanded its presence pan-India, capitalizing on the Indian Railways’ push towards complete network electrification to improve efficiency and reduce dependence on diesel traction. Apart from railway infrastructure, the company has diversified moderately; for instance, it ventured into merchant export business involving agricultural commodities such as maize and onions.
Leadership at BCPL comprises experienced professionals from engineering, finance, and operations domains. The board of directors includes founders and independent members who guide strategic planning, project execution and governance. Financially, BCPL is categorized as a small-cap infrastructure stock, with a market presence that reflects steady growth in order books and revenue in recent years. Its share performance and financial ratios are tracked on Indian exchanges, and the company continues to compete for sizeable EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contracts in the rail sector.
