ARLYX Technologies Inc, a Canadian mining technology company, has introduced the industry’s first fully electric autonomous solution designed specifically for underground material handling operations. Developed over two years in Quebec and validated through field testing at a Tier 1 mining site, the system will be showcased at Mining Transformed 2026 in Sudbury, Ontario.
The ARLYX platform integrates an autonomous utility vehicle with the company’s proprietary AutoLatch™ module, enabling remote transport, loading, and unloading of payloads up to 4,500 kilograms. The system is designed to operate continuously in underground environments, including during blasting windows when personnel are evacuated from active zones.
According to ARLYX, the solution is intended to address one of the most persistent operational bottlenecks in underground mining: ramp congestion and downtime during post-blast ventilation periods. By shifting material transport into these inactive windows, the system enables delivery of consumables such as rock bolts, pipes, and concrete while production crews are off-site. The company estimates that improved ramp availability during production shifts could enable additional ore transport cycles, potentially translating into significant annual productivity gains per site.
Michael Simard, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ARLYX Technologies, said the system is designed to eliminate inefficiencies at their source. “Ramp congestion is one of the biggest constraints in underground mining operations. Our solution is designed to unlock productivity by clearing transport pathways during peak production hours and turning downtime into productive activity,” he said.
The ARLYX system is fully electric and designed to support decarbonization efforts in the mining industry. By eliminating diesel usage, the platform reduces emissions and ventilation requirements, which are among the highest operating costs in underground mines. The company also highlights reduced mechanical complexity, lower maintenance requirements, and improved operational safety.
ARLYX enables remote supervision, allowing a single operator to manage multiple autonomous vehicles simultaneously. The system integrates with existing mine communication infrastructure, including LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, and radio networks, ensuring compatibility with current underground environments.
The company states that its solution is designed natively for mining conditions rather than adapted from surface applications. Multiple patents are pending, and the platform architecture supports modular expansion, including future applications such as fire suppression, dust control, and ore transport systems.
ARLYX will present its technology at Mining Transformed in Sudbury (May 25–27, 2026), followed by additional showcases at the Canadian Mining Expo in Timmins and the GMG Forum in Sudbury in June 2026. Founded in 2023, ARLYX Technologies focuses on electric autonomous mobility solutions for industrial and mining applications, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and operational sustainability.
