ArcelorMittal Building Solutions has announced plans to establish its North American headquarters and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Macon-Bibb County, Georgia, marking a major expansion of its operations in the United States. The project will begin with an investment of approximately $57 million, creating around 70 new jobs, while an additional $50 million investment and another 70 jobs are planned over the coming years.
The new facility will manufacture advanced insulated building envelope systems used in warehouses, manufacturing plants, data centres and commercial buildings. Designed to improve thermal efficiency, structural performance and construction speed, the products will support the growing demand for modern industrial infrastructure across North America.
Governor Brian P Kemp welcomed the investment, stating that Georgia continues to attract world-class manufacturers because of its skilled workforce, strong business climate and strategic location. He noted that the project will help meet increasing demand for high-performance construction materials while reinforcing the state’s leadership in advanced manufacturing.
ArcelorMittal Building Solutions serves customers through more than 50 manufacturing and commercial locations worldwide. The company specialises in roofing systems, insulated panels, modular construction solutions and steel building technologies that improve energy efficiency and long-term building performance.
Jean Christophe Kennel, Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Building Solutions, said the investment marks the company’s official entry into the North American building solutions market. He highlighted growing demand from sectors such as logistics, manufacturing and data centre development as key drivers behind the expansion.
The company selected Macon after evaluating several locations, citing the region’s skilled workforce, established industrial ecosystem and strong support from state and local development agencies. The new campus will include manufacturing operations, corporate offices and a dedicated training centre to support employee development.
Construction is expected to begin during the second half of 2026, with commercial production scheduled to commence in the latter half of 2027 following regulatory approvals. Recruitment will cover production, logistics, engineering, management and commercial positions.
Local officials described the announcement as the result of years of investment in industrial infrastructure and workforce readiness. The project is expected to strengthen Macon-Bibb County’s manufacturing base while creating long-term employment opportunities and supporting regional economic growth. The Georgia Department of Economic Development, Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, Georgia EMC and Georgia Quick Start collaborated to secure the investment, further strengthening Georgia’s reputation as a preferred destination for international manufacturing companies expanding into North America.
