AMPO has strengthened its role as a maintenance, repair, and operations supplier for Brazil’s mining industry, building steady growth in the market over recent years. The company has established working relationships with major mining operators including Anglo American, Samarco, Norsk Hydro, Vale, and CBMM. Through AMPO SERVICE, the company now provides key replacement valves for scheduled maintenance programs at mining sites across the country.

AMPO POYAM VALVES are currently installed in several of Brazil’s main slurry and tailings pump stations, including Anglo American’s PS1 and PS2, Samarco’s PS Mariana and PS Matipó, CBMM’s facilities in Araxá, and multiple Vale installations. These pump stations play a critical role in transporting ore slurry, and each pump depends on a set of five essential valves to maintain safe and stable operation.

These include a low-pressure suction valve, a high-pressure discharge valve, and three drain valves. In addition to pump-related equipment, AMPO POYAM VALVES also supplies engineered block valves for main pipeline systems within these stations, supporting overall system integrity and operational continuity.

According to performance data collected in the field, AMPO POYAM severe service ball valves have demonstrated service lives up to 50 percent longer than comparable alternatives when installed in demanding applications. The valves are designed and engineered in-house, with a focus on durability and consistent performance under abrasive and high-pressure conditions commonly found in mining operations.

AMPO SERVICE also offers replacement solutions that match existing face-to-face dimensions, allowing valves to be installed on a direct replacement basis without modification to existing infrastructure. This approach minimizes downtime during maintenance activities and simplifies integration into established systems. With its growing installed base and ongoing technical support, AMPO continues to work closely with mining operators in Brazil to support safe operations and long-term asset reliability.
