Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Pvt. Ltd (ARACT), a part of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd, has made a big move in the battery world. They have signed a technical licensing agreement with GIB EnergyX Slovakia s.r.o., which is part of Gotion High-Tech Co Ltd. This deal will allow Amara Raja to use Gotion’s top-notch lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology for making lithium-ion cells.

Amara Raja will be able to produce LFP cells in two shapes: cylindrical and prismatic. They will gain the technology needed to produce these cells and receive assistance in establishing advanced manufacturing facilities, also known as Gigafactories. This partnership will offer Amara Raja technical support and connect them with Gotion’s global supply chain.

This connection will ensure they have access to the essential materials for making batteries. Last year, Amara Raja announced a major investment of Rs 9,500 crores to develop the Amara Raja Giga Corridor in Telangana, India. This new agreement will support their efforts to construct this large-scale facility.

Amara Raja and Gotion are both part of InoBat, a new battery technology company in Slovakia. InoBat focuses on advanced applications like electric aviation and aims to create a full-cycle battery ecosystem. GIB, a joint venture between Gotion and InoBat, is working on building Slovakia’s first LFP battery Gigafactory.

Vikramadithya Gourineni, Executive Director of ARE&M, expressed excitement about the new partnership with Gotion and InoBat, highlighting that it will enhance their technology and supply security, aiding the development of the Amara Raja Giga Corridor.

Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director of ARE&M, described this as a new era for the company, named Amara Raja 3.0, noting that the partnership with Gotion provides a significant advantage in India’s expanding EV market due to Gotion’s proven technology and experience.

Steven Cai, Chairman of GIB EnergyX, acknowledged India’s potential and commended Amara Raja’s success and strong customer relationships, stating that their collaboration will bring valuable LFP technology to support Indian customers in their energy transition.
