In line with the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, Alstom’s solutions for the Indore Metro have been developed, manufactured and delivered in India. The company operates six industrial sites and five major engineering centres in the country, supporting both domestic and international projects.
The Indore Metro Yellow Line spans a total distance of 31.5 km. Its 16-station mainline, covering 16.72 km, is currently operational. The line uses 10 Alstom-equipped trainsets and operates at Grade of Automation 1 with Automatic Train Protection on the mainline. Alstom has already delivered 23 of the 25 trainsets planned for Indore. The trains are supported by the Gandhinagar Depot and Test Track.
The three-car metro trains are designed and manufactured at Alstom’s rolling stock facility in Savli, Gujarat. They can operate at a top speed of 80 kmph and accommodate 144 seated and 981 standing passengers. The trains also include dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility.
The metro system uses energy-efficient traction technology and regenerative braking to reduce energy consumption. It also features CCTV surveillance, unattended object identification, empty train detection and direct communication with operators and the control centre.
Alstom has also equipped the network with its Urbalis Forward CBTC signalling system to support safe and efficient train operations. Under its 15-year maintenance agreement, the company will provide lifecycle support to help ensure high availability and reliable metro services for passengers.
