Alstef Group, a global provider of automated material handling and intralogistics solutions, has unveiled a new Autonomous Intelligent Vehicle (AIV) designed to support the evolving requirements of modern warehouse and distribution operations. The new vehicle represents the next stage in the company’s automation development strategy, addressing the growing need for flexible and safe mobility solutions in facilities where human workers, machinery and mobile equipment operate simultaneously.

Warehousing environments are becoming increasingly complex as supply chains demand faster throughput, adaptable workflows and higher levels of safety. To address these challenges, Alstef Group’s new AIV integrates advanced perception and decision-making capabilities that allow it to interpret its surroundings and react dynamically during operations.

At the core of the system is a real-time perception bubble, a continuously updated awareness zone surrounding the vehicle. This capability allows the robot to monitor its environment, detect nearby activity and respond immediately to changing conditions within the warehouse.

Unlike traditional automated guided vehicles that rely primarily on fixed navigation paths and simple obstacle detection, the new AIV incorporates artificial intelligence to achieve a deeper understanding of its surroundings. Using onboard cameras combined with AI-based vision models, the vehicle is able to identify and categorise objects in its operating environment.

The system can distinguish between different types of obstacles, including pedestrians, manual carts, pallets and static infrastructure. This ability to interpret context enables the vehicle to adjust its behaviour accordingly—slowing down around people, rerouting when required and maintaining efficient flow within shared working spaces.

By combining autonomous mobility with intelligent perception, the solution is intended to enhance both operational safety and productivity. Warehouse operators benefit from improved traffic coordination between human workers and robotic systems, while maintaining the flexibility required in fast-moving logistics environments.

The development reflects Alstef Group’s continued focus on integrating artificial intelligence into intralogistics technologies. As distribution centres handle increasing volumes and operational complexity, autonomous solutions capable of real-time decision-making are expected to play an important role in improving efficiency and reliability.

With the introduction of its AI-enabled AIV platform, Alstef Group aims to provide warehouse operators with a scalable automation solution that adapts to changing workflows while supporting safer, smarter material movement across modern logistics facilities. Alstef Group develops and delivers integrated automated solutions for the airport, intralogistics, and parcel handling sectors. The company specializes in designing and implementing turnkey systems that are tailored to the operational requirements of its customers. Its approach focuses on creating intelligent automation platforms that improve efficiency while delivering long-term value through scalable, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible system designs.

With operations established in 18 countries, Alstef Group has built a global footprint through a diverse portfolio of automation systems installed in 94 countries across six continents. The organization is supported by a workforce of around 1,000 employees and reported revenues exceeding €250 million in 2024.
