Alivus Life Sciences Limited, formerly Glenmark Life Sciences Limited, has agreed to acquire a 76% stake in IQGenX Pharma Private Limited for ₹9.12 crore. The acquisition will expand Alivus Life Sciences’ capabilities beyond active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) into advanced formulation development and strengthen its integrated offering for pharmaceutical customers worldwide.
Founded in October 2016, IQGenX Pharma is a custom research organisation focused on formulation development for oral solid dosage products, sterile injectables and ophthalmic solutions. Its services cater to customers targeting regulated and semi-regulated markets, including the US, European Union, Latin America and the Middle East.
The acquisition will allow Alivus to use its existing API portfolio alongside IQGenX’s formulation development capabilities. The combined platform will cover a wider part of the pharmaceutical development cycle, from early formulation work and prototype development to process optimisation, scale-up, clinical supplies and commercial manufacturing.
IQGenX also provides bioequivalence and stability studies, analytical development, method validation and regulatory support. These capabilities are expected to help Alivus provide customers with a broader range of services and support pharmaceutical products through development and regulatory submission.
The expanded platform will also strengthen Alivus Life Sciences’ CDMO offering. Customers will be able to access services covering pre-formulation studies, formulation development, process development, scale-up and commercial manufacturing, along with analytical and regulatory support.
Alivus also plans to combine IQGenX’s specialised formulation capabilities with its API portfolio, with an initial focus on oncology. The company intends to develop differentiated and niche pharmaceutical assets that can be taken to commercial scale and potentially licensed to partners in international markets.
The acquisition is expected to broaden Alivus Life Sciences’ customer base in the generic pharmaceutical segment while creating additional opportunities in the global CDMO market. By combining API manufacturing with formulation development, the company aims to offer customers a more integrated development and manufacturing platform. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed by the end of calendar year 2026.
Alivus Life Sciences is a developer and manufacturer of high-value APIs used in chronic therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular diseases, central nervous system disorders, pain management and diabetes. The company has a portfolio of 181 molecules and supplies products to customers across India, Europe, North America, Latin America, Japan and other international markets.
