Air Liquide is set to enhance its presence in Gujarat with the establishment of its second Air Separation Unit (ASU) and Cylinder Filling Station (CFS) in Bhagapura. The new facilities, scheduled to begin operations in 2027, will be owned and operated by Air Liquide India. This strategic expansion will significantly increase the company’s production capacity in the region, effectively doubling its output and complementing the existing ASU plant at Jhagadia.

The Bhagapura ASU will play a key role in supporting the growing industrial sectors of Gujarat, including automotive, battery manufacturing, and electronics. It will produce 200 tonnes of gases per day and cater to both On-Site and Bulk applications, as well as medical gas needs for local hospitals. Additionally, the new cylinder filling station will have the capacity to fill nearly 1,000 cylinders per day, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply to customers.

Aligned with Air Liquide’s sustainability goals, including achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, the new plant will incorporate renewable energy sources as part of the Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Policy in Gujarat, with plans to decarbonize the site by 2029.

Air Liquide India, a prominent player in the Indian gas industry since 1996, operates six production facilities across the northern and western regions of India, with a daily capacity of nearly 1,500 tonnes of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon.

Benoit Renard, Managing Director of Air Liquide India, remarked, “With this investment in a state-of-the-art air separation unit and cylinder filling station, we are significantly increasing our production capacity in Gujarat. This expansion will help drive the growth of industries and the healthcare sector, while also ensuring reliable and high-quality service to our customers.”
