Adani Power today announced that its subsidiary, Moxie Power Generation Ltd (MPGL), has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) for the supply of 558 MW (net) of electricity over a five-year period. MPGL operates a 1,200 MW (2×600 MW) thermal power plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The company secured the contract after emerging as the lowest bidder in a competitive tender process, quoting a tariff of ₹5.910 per unit. Power supply under the agreement is scheduled to commence on 1 April 2026.
With this award, both generating units at the Tuticorin facility are now backed by power supply agreements. More than 95 percent of Adani Power’s total operational capacity is currently tied up under medium- to long-term contracts, strengthening revenue visibility and reducing exposure to short-term market fluctuations. The company has outlined plans to secure near-total PPA coverage for its operational and under-construction capacity in the coming years.
The agreement is expected to support Tamil Nadu’s growing energy requirements by providing 558 MW of dependable and high-quality electricity. The additional supply will contribute to grid stability and help ensure uninterrupted power for households, commercial establishments and industrial consumers across the state. By locking in supply at a competitive tariff, the arrangement is also expected to deliver cost advantages and reliable service to consumers over the contract period.
Adani Power, part of the diversified Adani portfolio, is India’s largest private thermal power producer, with an installed capacity of 18,110 MW across twelve power plants located in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. The company also operates a 40 MW solar power facility in Gujarat.
Supported by experienced technical and operational teams, Adani Power continues to expand its generation portfolio while focusing on operational efficiency and long-term contracted capacity. Through technology adoption and disciplined project execution, the company aims to contribute to India’s objective of ensuring adequate, reliable and affordable electricity supply to fuel economic growth and development.
