Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) announced Monday that its operational capacity has now reached 15.53 GW, comprising 11 GW of solar and 1.9 GW of wind power. This capacity is enough to supply electricity to approximately 7.9 million households. The company’s total operational portfolio includes 11,005.5 MW of solar energy, 1,977.8 MW of wind power, and 2,556.6 MW from hybrid wind-solar projects.
Ashish Khanna, AGEL’s CEO, stated, “We are committed to rapidly increasing our renewable energy capacity from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030. Our goal is to continue providing sustainable energy solutions to India and the world.”
This achievement represents the fastest and largest renewable capacity expansion in India to date, with AGEL claiming that it could meet the renewable energy needs of the entire northeastern region of India.
The milestone also marks AGEL’s 10-year anniversary in India. The company is currently constructing the world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat. The 30,000 MW plant will cover 538 square km, making it five times larger than Paris, and visible even from space. Once completed, it will become the largest power plant globally, surpassing all existing energy sources in size.
To date, AGEL has commissioned a total of 5,355.9 MW of renewable energy capacity at Khavda. Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) is one of India’s leading renewable energy companies, dedicated to accelerating the country’s transition to sustainable power. A part of the Adani Group, AGEL was established to develop, own, and operate large-scale grid-connected solar and wind energy projects.
With an ambitious vision of achieving 45 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, AGEL is currently one of the world’s largest renewable energy developers. The company has built an extensive portfolio of solar and wind projects across India, focusing on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability to support the nation’s clean energy goals.
AGEL is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships to enhance its operational efficiency and environmental impact. The company has implemented large-scale hybrid renewable projects that combine solar and wind power to provide a more stable and reliable energy supply.
Its focus on sustainability extends beyond power generation, with efforts in water conservation, biodiversity protection, and community development initiatives. Through its continued investments and expansion, AGEL plays a critical role in shaping India’s renewable energy landscape and contributing to global climate action.
