ABB India recorded a 3% increase in net profit to ₹474 crore for the January–March 2025 quarter, compared to ₹460 crore during the same period in the previous year. The company, which follows a January–December financial year, reported revenue of ₹3,160 crore, an improvement over ₹3,080 crore in Q1 CY2024.

Sanjeev Sharma, Country Head and Managing Director, noted the strong performance during the company’s 75th year of manufacturing in India, attributing the growth to trust from customers and partners, and consistent execution across business divisions. The company’s local-for-local strategy has enabled it to capitalize on domestic demand, with more than 85% of revenue generated within the Indian market.

Growth was supported by contributions from core sectors such as railways and new industries including electronics. ABB India also reiterated its commitment to sustainability, referencing its latest Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) and recognition from the Asian Center for Corporate Governance and Sustainability.

Total orders for Q1 CY2025 stood at ₹3,751 crore, with growth led by base orders and supported by larger contracts. Despite high comparables from the previous year due to one-time orders, the first quarter of 2025 saw the highest Q1 order intake in the past five years. Notable sectors included electronics, railways, energy, metals, mining, and infrastructure.

The company achieved revenue of ₹3,160 crore in Q1 CY2025 through efficient backlog execution, increased product volumes, and delivery of high-value projects, particularly in the Motion division. Robotics and Discrete Automation also contributed through improved service revenue. Process Automation experienced a decline due to reduced system orders.

Product launches during the quarter included the LIORA modular switch series for smart buildings and flameproof motors designed for hazardous industrial environments. In the first quarter of CY2025, ABB India reported a profit before tax of ₹636 crore, excluding exceptional items. This performance was driven by improved margins supported by higher operating leverage resulting from increased volumes, successful implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, strategic pricing actions that mitigated the impact of cost inflation, and prudent hedging measures to manage currency and commodity price volatility. Cash and cash equivalents remained strong at ₹5,756 crore as of the quarter’s end.

ABB India reported an ~87% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to the 2019 baseline. Half of its manufacturing sites have been certified as zero waste to landfill and water positive. The Nelamangala campus achieved Mission to Zero™ status. The company completed third-party ESG verification aligned with BRSR Core requirements and received recognition for CSR practices.

The initial months of 2025 have shown steady demand across sectors. Growth drivers include infrastructure spending, policy support, and an increasing focus on digital and sustainable technologies. However, future growth may be influenced by global trade dynamics, geopolitical developments, and commodity price volatility. ABB India is positioned to benefit from government initiatives in renewable energy, green hydrogen, electronics, and AI infrastructure. ABB India is a leading technology-driven company at the forefront of electrification and automation, committed to driving sustainable progress across industries. With a strong legacy and a dynamic presence in sectors such as energy, transportation, manufacturing, and infrastructure, ABB India delivers cutting-edge solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance.

The company’s portfolio spans smart power systems, motion control, robotics, and digital automation, supporting India’s journey toward industrial modernization and clean energy adoption. Guided by a focus on innovation, safety, and environmental responsibility, ABB India continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of intelligent and sustainable operations across the country.
