Aarti Industries Limited (AIL), a global speciality chemicals manufacturer, has announced the successful commissioning of Phase I of its Zone IV project at Jhagadia, Gujarat. The milestone marks a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy and strengthens its downstream integration, product diversification and flexible manufacturing capabilities.

Phase I comprises facilities for Calcium Chloride, PEDA (2-Phenyl Ethyl Diethyl Aniline) and a portion of the Multipurpose Plant (MPP). The newly commissioned assets are designed to support the commercial production of high-value and niche speciality chemicals, with several products planned under the Zone IV platform expected to be manufactured in India for the first time.

The PEDA facility extends AIL’s established Ethylation platform further downstream and builds on its existing capabilities in 2,6-Diethyl Aniline. The addition strengthens the company’s participation in value-added products, particularly those serving the agrochemical sector. The Calcium Chloride facility expands AIL’s Energy & Additives portfolio, with applications across oilfield and energy-related markets.

The Multipurpose Plant provides a flexible manufacturing platform capable of scaling pilot-validated processes into commercial production across multiple products and advanced chemistries. This flexibility is expected to enable AIL to respond more effectively to changing customer requirements and emerging market opportunities. The combined capabilities of Zone IV will allow the company to serve a wider range of applications spanning agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, coatings, polymers and energy and additives.

Following commissioning, AIL will focus on commercial qualification, customer approvals and a disciplined ramp-up of the newly established facilities. The company expects to progressively commercialise all manufacturing blocks within Zone IV during the current fiscal year.

Suyog Kotecha, Chief Executive Officer, Aarti Industries Limited, said the commissioning of Phase I represents an important milestone in the company’s growth journey. He highlighted the role of Zone IV as a flexible platform for deeper integration, application diversification and the development of high-value speciality products. He also noted that the Multipurpose Plant will strengthen AIL’s ability to move new chemistries from pilot development to commercial-scale manufacturing.

The broader Zone IV project comprises multiple chemistry blocks designed to accommodate a diverse range of products and manufacturing processes. The platform is expected to strengthen AIL’s integrated research, development, process scale-up and manufacturing capabilities while providing greater flexibility to address opportunities in domestic and international markets.

Established in 1984, Aarti Industries has more than four decades of experience in complex process chemistries, scale-up and manufacturing. The company offers more than 100 products through 16 manufacturing plants and four R&D centres supported by over 250 scientists. Its capabilities span research, process development, engineering and commercial-scale manufacturing, supporting customers across multiple global and domestic industries.
