Before establishing C-Tech, Mr Mutha had already ventured into the engineering space through a partnership firm in the early 1990s. However, it was in 2001 that he envisioned a more focused, independent venture, marking the birth of C-Tech Engineering. “The decision to start C-Tech was not sudden. I had been in the business since 1990. With export opportunities opening up in the late ’90s, I felt the need to expand into a private limited company to tap into larger markets and scale effectively,” he recalls.
From its very first order, C-Tech was born global. Initially operating as a 100% export-oriented unit until 2008, the company later diversified into the domestic market to balance risks. Today, C-Tech’s operations are split into 60% exports and 40% domestic supply, delivering to countries across the globe while supporting India’s industrial backbone.
Engineering Excellence Through Precision
C-Tech specializes in precision machined components, focusing on high-end processes like grinding, CNC turning, and VMC machining. With over 2,500 varieties of components in its portfolio, the company’s unique selling proposition lies in its diversity and ability to handle complex requirements. “Our USP is variety. We don’t just focus on one type of component—we manufacture thousands of different precision parts,” said Mr. Mutha.
These components are supplied to major industries including earthmoving, construction, mining, valves, general engineering, and even the automobile sector, albeit in smaller volumes. The company’s consistent quality and adherence to strict tolerances have earned it the trust of customers worldwide.
A Journey Rooted in Values
Mr. Satish Mutha’s leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in human-centric business practices. Speaking about his 24-year journey with C-Tech, he describes it as both challenging and deeply satisfying. “I work 12 hours a day but go home and sleep peacefully. That peace of mind is the biggest achievement,” he smiles.With a workforce of nearly 250 employees, Mr. Mutha credits daily learning and human connection as central to his success. “Every day brings new lessons—be it from customers, suppliers, bankers, or our team. This continuous learning has shaped who I am today.
Mr. Mutha’s entrepreneurial spirit was ignited early in life, influenced by a chance meeting in 1986 with Mr. J.R.D. Tata, whose words left a lasting impact. “He said India should be a nation of employment generators, not seekers. That line never left my mind,” shares Mr. Mutha. Inspired by that vision, he made up his mind at the age of 20 to pursue business and started his first venture at 22.
Another significant influence was a lecture by Mr. Babasaheb Kalyani 30 years ago, which emphasized the importance of people in any enterprise. “He said human beings are more important than products or customers in an engineering business. That perspective gave me a new vision.”
Celebrating 25 Years of Purpose-Driven Manufacturing
With the silver jubilee just a year away, Mr. Mutha is clear about his next goal: sustainable growth and leadership transition. “At 57, I know I need to build a strong team that can carry this legacy forward. The focus now is on building a team more than just a business.”
C-Tech plans to continue growing organically, strengthening customer relationships and expanding its footprint in both domestic and international markets. As industries evolve with technology and automation, the demand for high-precision engineering is only expected to grow—and C-Tech is poised to lead the way.
