In the early 1980s when ‘Make in India’ was a distant dream, more so in engineering and technology, Jayshree Electron appeared on to Indian manufacturing with imports substitute proximity switches. Indian companies erstwhile dependent high cost imported proximity sensors found an indigenous alternative. Ever since then Jayshree Electron has been known for its pioneering solutions. Talking to Machine Maker, Dhananjay G Dabke, Managing Director of Jayshree Electron shares their Make in India journey.
Making in India with Pioneering Innovations
Jayshree was founded in 1971 by Late Shri R P Bapat, the founding Chairman of Jayashree Electron. He realized that there was a market of import substitute in heavy industries, particularly in the large size motor sector. Thus came the first indigenously developed medium voltage soft starter completely designed and manufactured by Jayashree and put into operation in 1978.
It was a revolutionary development and it was the first of its kind solution in India. Fast forward to 2020 and Jayshree has become the leading soft starter manufacturing company in India with over 8000 installations all over the world. Jayshree is a leading company in its sector due to a completely different approach to manufacturing its products.
Their manufacturing plants are completely automated and fitted with an in-house HT motor test bench and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies. They have an excellent track record regarding its product quality and customer service. Jayshree also focuses on innovation to meet their client’s expectations and requirements. Indigenously Developed Products for Speed & Position Controls
Jayshree has a wide range of products for their clients ranging from non-contract sensors, conveyor safety switches, optical encoders, and soft starters. Over the years they have expanded and their share in the domestic market has been growing steadily. Jayshree now caters to over 60 percent of the domestic market in its respective sector.

Series Impedance Type Motor Soft Starter
Jayshree has indigenously developed a pure electrical solution for the motor soft starters. This led to a revolutionary change in system efficiency and energy savings which makes Jayshree one of the most trusted brands in India in the motor sector. Advance Electronic Close Loop Control systems with Sensors
Jayshree specializes in manufacturing pure sine wave-based motor starters with current monitoring which offers smooth, linear, stepless motor acceleration, and dynamic PF compensation. The product has been specifically designed for matching motor delivery and has a full-proof and bug-free algorithm for a smooth operation of the product by the user.
PLC/ HMI is developed in-house for the most reliable control of current and proper switching of power elements. Introduced in the 1978 s by Jayashree, the air core technology for soft starters is the first of its kind solution for commercial use. Air core replaced the ageing magnetic core technology and introduced better facilities and performance.
