Indian warehouses are evolving at an unexpected speed. E-commerce growth, manufacturing expansion, and stricter environmental regulations are pushing companies to improve how goods move inside their facilities. Traditional diesel- and gas-powered forklifts are being replaced with electric equipment that is cleaner, quieter, and easier to maintain. Jungheinrich India is responding to this shift with electric forklifts, lithium-ion technology, and warehouse automation solutions. At the Intralogistics and Warehousing Expo 2026 in Mumbai from May 14 to 16, the company will showcase practical warehouse solutions built around electric technology.
A JOURNEY BUILT ON ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY
Jungheinrich has spent nearly 70 years proving that the future of logistics is electric. The journey began with the “Ameise,” the company’s first electric forklift, created at a time when the world still leaned heavily on noisy, fuel-burning engines. In 2023, Jungheinrich took a bold step for the planet by stopping all development of combustion engine trucks to focus entirely on electric power.
These machines do more than just move goods; they create a healthier workspace by removing exhaust fumes and reducing noise. By investing in advanced lithium-ion batteries, the company has made work easier for operators, allowing them to charge equipment during short breaks rather than handling heavy spare batteries. For Jungheinrich, every innovation is a step toward a cleaner world. As Dr Lars Brzoska, Chairman of the Board of Management, explains that “sustainability is the compass for the transformation of material handling. It combines innovation, social responsibility, and economic success.”
GROWING PRESENCE AND A STRONG PRODUCT PORTFOLIO
Jungheinrich India is expanding its presence across the warehousing sector through its integrated facility in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, and a growing dealer network across key industrial regions. The company offers material handling solutions for different warehouse needs, from the cost-effective AntOn by Jungheinrich lithium-ion forklifts to the EFG 2/2i and 3/3i electric counterbalance trucks designed for narrow aisles and continuous operations.
For high-bay warehouses, the ETV 4i reach truck helps maximize storage space efficiently. Jungheinrich India also supports warehouse automation through solutions like the FalcOn high-voltage system and the EAC 212a Mobile Robot with automated pallet detection. Its focus on practical innovation was recently recognized with the Customer-Driven Material Handling Innovations award at the LOGIVERSE Awards during LogiMAT India 2026.
LEADERSHIP WITH DEEP INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Sanjay Datta, Business Director at Jungheinrich Lift Truck India, took charge in June 2025 after progressing through the company’s sales operations. He joined Jungheinrich in 2015 after spending ten years at Siemens, where he worked with geared motors and industrial drives for manufacturing industries. His experience in cement, mining, and sugar sectors helped him understand the operational challenges faced by factories and warehouses.
At Jungheinrich India, he has played a key role in expanding the sales network across West and North India before leading the company’s sales and marketing operations. Today, he manages a growing team of over 100 employees along with an expanding dealer network across the country.
WHAT VISITORS CAN EXPECT AT IWE 2026
As the Material Handling Equipment Partner at IWE 2026, Jungheinrich India will showcase its role as a system integrator at Hall 6, Booth B12. Visitors can watch live demonstrations of two-way and four-way shuttle systems designed to improve safety and productivity.
The exhibit will also feature narrow aisle trucks, racking solutions, and the AntOn range of lithium-ion forklifts. Sanjay Datta and a team of experts will be available to discuss how electric equipment and automation can support reliability and sustainability. This showcase helps businesses in sectors like e-commerce and pharmaceuticals move toward more efficient logistics for both new and existing projects.
LOOKING AHEAD
Jungheinrich India’s commitment to the environment goes beyond technology; it is rooted in a promise to give back to the land. For every forklift sold, the company plants a tree, turning business growth into a growing forest. Since 2021, this initiative has taken root across Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, with over 3,300 trees already reaching toward the sky and new plans to expand into Latur.
A recent project at Triveni Ashram in Pune added 400 plants using the Miyawaki technique, creating a dense, self-sustaining green space in a short time. By combining electric equipment with these heartfelt environmental efforts, Jungheinrich India is ensuring that the future of logistics is not just efficient, but also green and full of life.
