Sandvik Coromant Introduces CoroMill® MS60

Sandvik Coromant, a member of the global industrial engineering group Sandvik, continues to revolutionise the machining world with the introduction of the CoroMill® MS60, a state-of-the-art milling tool crafted for impeccable 90-degree shoulder milling in steel and cast iron. Going beyond its core functionality, the CoroMill® MS60 also brings excellence to face milling and various ramping operations.

With over eighty years of metal-cutting proficiency, Sandvik Coromant stands at the forefront of industrial innovation, transforming challenges into opportunities for ingenuity and collaboration. The company’s dedication to sustainability, efficiency, and growth not only drives the industry forward but also lays the groundwork for a future where innovation is not just present but thrives, in harmony with environmental and economic sustainability.

Sandvik Coromant introduces its latest milling tool, the CoroMill® MS60, designed for 90-degree shoulder milling tasks in steel and cast iron. This versatile tool extends its capabilities to face milling and various ramping applications. According to Jocelyn Lanaro, Global Product Application Specialist at Sandvik Coromant, the CoroMill® MS60 is a universal solution for shoulder and face milling. It is ideal for roughing to semi-finishing operations in steel and cast iron, with two geometries suitable for these applications as well as secondary areas ISO M and ISO S.

This tool can handle mixed material batches, including stainless steel and nickel-based alloys, without requiring insert changes. The CoroMill® MS60 boasts a robust multi-edge concept with positive cutting action, resulting in low cutting forces for vibration-free machining and high cost-efficiency per edge. With a true 90-degree entering angle, the CoroMill® MS60 is primarily a shoulder milling tool but also excels in other areas such as side milling, slot milling, helical ramping, and face milling. It is often the first choice for universal milling operations, handling roughing to semi-finishing stages and leaving finishing to dedicated solutions.

An impressive feature of the CoroMill® MS60 is its direct-pressed, six-edged inserts. These inserts are made using advanced multi-axis pressing technology, allowing for a smooth cut and ramping capability in the same insert. This enhances the versatility of the product, making it ideal for various applications.

The CoroMill® MS60 comes in four different diameters, available in both metrics (50-100 mm) and inches (2-4 inch). This range offers a compact yet comprehensive selection, making it easier for users to choose the right tool for their needs. This wide selection also enhances the usability of the product, ensuring that it can be used effectively in a variety of situations.
