After the second-generation AKM2G servo motors successful launch, KOLLMORGEN, a specialist in servo drive technology and motion control, has embarked on the expansion of a new range of applications in the low-voltage range. This is a response to the enhanced demand for AKM2G motors for medical technology, robotics, and AGVs. The market witnesses a rising demand for supply voltages of 24, 48, 72, and 96 V DC.

Now, the initial launch is of AKM2G motors for low-voltage applications in frame size 3. The company’s reliance is on EnDat, Hiperface DSL, optical encoders, and tried-and-tested strong Resolver as feedback systems. With regards to connection technology, the current options include M23 connections in the Hybrid HTec and the SpeedTec versions. The company also plans to launch further options in due course.

The AKM2G servo motors attain a permanent torque from 0.6 through 9.0 Nm for low voltages and the maximum torque is 27 Nm. These new motors display the optimum values for compact mobile applications from the material flow. Nowadays, autonomous transportation systems, popularly called as AGVs, have widespread use.

The company’s AKM motors have a second generation, which has exquisite features such as economical use of electrical energy and high-power density.

The preceding attributes are transferred 1:1 to the new low voltage series. The impact is that new design possibilities for automated medical technology, autonomous transportation systems, and small robots have opened up. The company relies on customization as a factor in business success. The newly launched range can be easily configured for individual tasks and also provides added scope for non-standard customer-specific alternatives.
