Digitalization & Sustainability tops at Hannover Messe Digital Press Conference 2022

“The most profound transformation since industrialization” – The collective focus was to illustrate concepts of digitalization, automation, and application of green energy that will help in climate protection in business as well as industry. Hannover Messe virtual conference is a platform that discusses issues and solutions pertaining to industry annually

Dr. Jochen Köckler

“We are witnessing the greatest transformation since industrialization currently”, said Dr Jochen Köckler, CEO, Deutsche Messe AG, while speaking at the annual Hannover Messe briefing. Dr Köckler also focused on the importance of utilizing the virtual platforms to their maximum potential for connecting with industrial experts globally.

Dr Köckler spoke about the increased value of Hannover Messe due to virtual add ons. “Since more people around the world are now able to interact with the world at their convenience, the value of industry-leading conferences like Hannover Messe has increased”, he said.

Dr Köckler put forth an interesting thought on how leading minds are missing from the industry who can lead the world on a better path. Further, he explained how providing sustainable products will lead us to the path of industrial transformation and also shed light on how countries like Portugal are ready to partner to bring this transformation in real life.

Dr Gunther Kegel

Dr Gunther Kegel, CEO, Pepperl + Fuchs Group, and Chair of Hannover Messe Supervisory Board gave the mantra of 4D’s to the world. The concept of 4D’s revolved around the ideas of digitalization, decarbonisation, deglobalisation, and demographics. Speaking about resilient supply chains and shipping supply chains, Dr Kegel suggested that the lack of skilled labour has been a major hurdle in the evolution of such crucial fields.

Dr Kegel shared his wisdom on the problems faced in the process of sustainable development. He was quick to shed light on some potential solutions to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of sustainable products. “One of the ways to achieve the previously mentioned goals is to look at the competitive solutions and create a new digitalized business model,” he concluded.

Ove Petersen

Ove Petersen, CEO GP JOULE GmBH, Reuẞenkӧge said his main area of interest was based on why green hydrogen is so important for Germany’s economy. “Hydrogen was separated from other industries previously”, he said. Mr Petersen then assured the rest of the conference that all of the industrial needs can be provided with sustainable energy.

Mr Petersen feels it is important to interact with industries about challenges faced regarding sustainable development and it is needed to be done in a decentralized way. He suggested the idea of utilizing green hydrogen to bridge the gap between two different sectors such as industry and mobility. “The world needs all the help we can get to decarbonize in every possible field if the society has to move on a path that is sustainable,” Mr Petersen concluded.
