When a die and mould manufacturer talks about surface finish, they are not talking about aesthetics. They are talking about whether the part works or not. A mould cavity ground to the wrong tolerance means rework, delays, and costs that compound fast. Getting the grind right the first time is crucial for the process. Alex Machine Tools has been doing that job since 1964. The Mumbai-based company has spent over six decades building precision surface grinding machines and now has more than 10,000 installations across India and 20+ countries.

At TAGMA Die & Mould India 2026, they are bringing that depth of experience to Hall 6, Stall D09, Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, from April 21 to 24. The company’s product range covers the full spectrum of surface grinding requirements for die and mould applications: reciprocating surface grinders, rotary surface grinders, double disc grinders, and customised solutions designed for specific application challenges. Every machine Alex builds is manufactured in-house, with a focus on high rigidity and thermal stability. For die and mould manufacturers running long production cycles, those are not marketing terms. They are the difference between a grinder that holds its accuracy through an eight-hour shift and one that drifts by midday.

The die and mould sector is dealing with tighter tolerances, more complex geometries, and customers who expect faster turnaround without any compromise on quality. Alex builds its machines to address exactly those pressures. With a repeat sales rate that reflects long-term customer confidence and a global service network that supports machines wherever they are installed, the company has built its reputation on reliability over the long run, not just at the point of sale.

Nisha Lobo, Director, Alex Machine Tools, said: “TAGMA is one of the most focused platforms for the die and mould community in India. It brings together manufacturers who understand what precision grinding demands on the shopfloor. At this edition, we want to show them exactly how our machines perform under real production conditions and have specific conversations about the grinding challenges they are trying to solve.”

Lobo, a mechanical engineering graduate from Cornell University, previously served as President of Texas Hydraulics in the US and as Supply Chain Director at Dover Corporation, where she oversaw global sourcing operations. She returned to lead Alex Machine Tools with a sharp focus on global markets, lean operations, and service quality. Her co-director Vernon Pontes brings an equally global background, having built and grown multiple businesses in the US, including founding the Energy Products Group within Dover Corporation and serving on the board of Dover Resources.

That combination of manufacturing heritage and global operational experience shapes how Alex approaches product development and customer support: machines that are engineered with precision, backed by responsive service, and built to last well beyond their warranty period.Visitors to the Alex Machine Tools stall can expect detailed application discussions, live demonstrations, and direct conversations with the team on how their grinding solutions address specific die and mould manufacturing challenges.
